The Center is located in the State of Bavaria and part of Germany's largest "Green Campus" in Weihenstephan near Munich. With 2.5 Mio. ha stocked area and timber stocks of over 400 cubic meters per hectare of forested area, Bavaria has more forests than any other state in Germany and by far the highest timber yield in Europe.

 With a staff of 400 people in 50 departments and sections the Center builds an effective interface between science and practice, and serves foresters, forest owners, timber industry, politics, media, and society as central contact in all forest and timber related questions.
